Short wedding dresses

Above the knee or just below it, a short dress is the answer to a wedding that happens in a room rather than down an aisle: a city hall, a lunch, a garden, a second outfit for the evening after a long dress in the morning.

Short does not mean simple. The proportions are less forgiving than in a long gown, because the whole line is visible at once, and the choice of shoe becomes part of the dress. It is worth trying on with the shoes you intend to wear — bring them to the fitting if you already have them.
